Public School Review

The public school review process in Western Australia, focusing on a particular school’s experience. The school is visited every 1-5 years, depending on the outcome of the review, by a Director of Public School Accountability and a peer reviewer. These roles are part of a structured review framework designed to ensure schools maintain and improve their educational standards..

During the visit, the school undergoes a validation of its self-assessment in six specific domains:

  1. Relationships and Partnerships: This area examines how well the school engages with parents, communities, and external organisations and the impact of these relationships on the school’s functioning and student outcomes.
  2. Learning Environment: Focuses on the atmosphere of the school, including its safety, resources, and overall conduciveness to student learning.
  3. Leadership: Assesses the effectiveness of school leaders in fostering a positive school culture and driving educational improvements.
  4. Use of Resources: Reviews how the school allocates and utilises its financial, human, and material resources to support educational goals.
  5. Teaching Quality: Evaluates the caliber of teaching, including instructional methods, teacher qualifications, and ongoing professional development.
  6. Student Achievement and Progress: Measures student performance and progress over time, examining both academic outcomes and other areas of student development.

The validation visit was hosted on February 28, 2024. The report from this visit can be accessed by download a PDF file. The last review was in 2019.

Looking ahead, the next review is already scheduled for the first term of 2027, though the exact date is yet to be determined. This scheduling aligns with the triennial cycle described, ensuring ongoing accountability and support for continuous improvement in the school.
