At Broome North Primary School, we place high value on preparing students for life in the 21st century.
Our specialist Digital Technologies program aligns with the Australian Curriculum and provides stimulating, relevant projects for learners engaging with current appropriate technologies, including iPads, robotics kits, and beginner computer programming. In lower primary, learning focuses on expanding foundational skills in computational thinking as students engage in personal experiences using digital systems. By Years 5 and 6, they experience opportunities to create a range of solutions, such as games, interactive stories, and animations.
Digital safety is a crucial focus of our program. We teach students how to navigate digital environments responsibly and emphasise the importance of privacy, respect, and security online. For additional support, we integrate resources from eSafety’s teaching program, which provides helpful materials for building awareness and good practices in the digital space. However, digital safety is a shared responsibility, and we encourage parents to reinforce these skills at home to help children maintain a positive digital footprint. The eSafety parent portal and the Digital Technologies Hub offers valuable guidance and tools for parents to support their children to be cybersafe at home.
Our teachers stay current with the latest professional development to ensure that learning programs reflect current technology trends and prioritise safe digital practices, fostering capable and responsible digital citizens. Additionally, our school is fortunate to have a well-maintained technical network and fast Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the campus.
