The Arts

We understand that enabling children to develop a creative view of the world is as important as the core learning principles of reading, writing and arithmetic. Our Arts program, focusing on both visual and performance arts, encourages students to immerse themselves in creative processes in a supportive and educational environment.

Our Visual Arts program is designed to encourage and challenge students to achieve their artistic potential in an enjoyable and supportive environment.Visual Art helps students develop their creativity and imagination, as well as refine their practical and fine motor skills. Throughout their time at Broome North PS students will get the opportunity to explore a wide variety of different art mediums such as drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, clay, sculpture, construction and textiles. Students also learn to communicate through their art, respond to the artworks of others and gain appreciation from well known artists.

Our Drama program provides a learning environment that promotes imagination, critical thinking, cultural engagement, communication, creativity and problem solving. Drama provides a medium for exploration, social criticism, celebration and entertainment. Our students learn the basics of stagecraft, voice and body movement. They are taught to reflect on the qualities of good storytelling, and how stories evolve as they move from a script to a staged production – as well as the important role of a careful observer in giving constructive feedback.

Our Arts program is embedded across the school curriculum with Harmony Day, school assemblies, NAIDOC week and other special events.
