Our specialist Digital Technologies program provides engaging and relevant learning experiences, where students work with contemporary technologies such as iPads, robotics kits, and introductory computer programming. In the early years, students develop foundational skills in computational thinking through hands-on experiences with digital systems. By Years 5 and 6, they apply these skills to design and create a range of digital solutions, including games, interactive stories, and animations.
The program is guided by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) Digital Technologies curriculum, adapted from the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) framework for Western Australian schools, ensuring alignment with state and national expectations.
Digital safety is a crucial focus of our program. We teach students how to navigate digital environments responsibly and emphasise the importance of privacy, respect, and security online. For additional support, we integrate resources from eSafety’s teaching program, which provides helpful materials for building awareness and good practices in the digital space. However, digital safety is a shared responsibility, and we encourage parents to reinforce these skills at home to help children maintain a positive digital footprint. The eSafety parent portal and the Digital Technologies Hub offer valuable guidance and tools for parents to support their children to be cybersafe at home.
Our teachers stay current with the latest professional development to ensure that learning programs reflect current technology trends and prioritise safe digital practices, fostering capable and responsible digital citizens. Additionally, our school is fortunate to have a well-maintained technical network and fast Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the campus.
